Yorktown Drug Dealer Sentenced for Firearm in Trafficking Case

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A Yorktown man with a long criminal history is heading to federal prison after being sentenced to five years for possessing a firearm during a drug trafficking operation.

According to federal prosecutors, 42-year-old Jonathan Michael Jenkins — also known by the street name “JHood” — was caught supplying methamphetamine during a controlled buy on February 3, 2025.

A month later, on March 3, law enforcement executed search warrants at two properties linked to Jenkins. What they found painted a clear picture of drug dealing: meth, heroin, fentanyl, crack, and cocaine — plus a loaded handgun. The second location contained more evidence tying Jenkins to active trafficking.

Repeat Offender

This wasn’t Jenkins’ first brush with the law. Records show he’s been convicted of 15 separate crimes and has racked up 17 probation violations as an adult.

With the firearm charge tied directly to his drug activity, the five-year sentence reflects the severity of combining weapons and narcotics in federal cases.
