Police Search for Suspect in Wards Corner Bank Robbery

Police in Norfolk are asking for the public’s help after an armed robbery at a bank in Wards Corner Saturday morning.

According to the Norfolk Police Department, officers were called around 9:15 a.m. on February 28 to the ABNB Federal Credit Union located at 129 W. Little Creek Road.

When officers arrived, they learned the robbery had happened just minutes earlier — around 9:07 a.m. Police say a man entered the bank with a weapon and demanded money from a teller.

The teller handed over the cash, and the suspect left the scene before officers arrived.

Investigators describe the man as between 40 and 50 years old, with dark facial spots. No injuries were reported during the incident.

Wards Corner is one of Norfolk’s busiest commercial corridors, especially on weekend mornings. Businesses were open and traffic was moving through the area as detectives began their investigation.

Police are urging anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the case to contact the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Tips can remain anonymous.

Detectives say the investigation is ongoing.
