Norfolk Court Sentences Local Resident for Sharing Child Exploitation Content

A Virginia Beach man, Dustin Roy Harrell, 39, was sentenced today to seven years in prison for distributing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

Court documents reveal that on October 12, 2023, Harrell shared CSAM within a group on an end-to-end encryption messaging app designed to keep communications private. He distributed a link to a Mega.nz account in the private channel, which allowed users to download a video depicting the sexual abuse of a newborn baby.

During the investigation, law enforcement officers seized multiple electronic devices from Harrell, including three cellphones. A forensic examination of these devices uncovered a significant amount of CSAM: 267 images, 32 computer-generated images, and five videos. One of the devices also contained conversations where Harrell discussed child pornography and incest.

Harrell was active in various online groups with disturbing names, such as “Cute Teens 16-19,” “Uncensored Teens,” and “Family Maza Incst,” among others.
