Norfolk City Jail Contractor Arrested for Smuggling Drugs to Inmates

Norfolk, VA – This morning, after a detailed investigation, deputies from the Norfolk Sheriff’s Office (NSO) arrested 30-year-old Takeyah Gosha. Gosha, an employee of a contractor service that provides canteen deliveries to inmates, is accused of bringing controlled substances into the Norfolk City Jail.

According to the NSO’s Security Threat Unit (STU), Gosha allegedly smuggled the substances into the jail, delivering them to inmates during her rounds. She was taken into custody without incident during her shift today and is facing a charge of “Delivering Drugs to a Prisoner Committed to the Jail,” classified as a Class 5 felony under Virginia law.

The investigation into the situation is still ongoing.

Sheriff Baron praised the efforts of those involved in the investigation, emphasizing the importance of maintaining safety and accountability within the facility. “Our STU Team has ensured the safety of our jail operations,” Sheriff Baron said. “It is our expectation that all employees and contractors will behave with integrity. The arrest of Ms. Gosha is an example of how we will hold ourselves and our contractors accountable when they act outside the law and/or our expected values.”
