Newport News: Five Face Sentencing in Richmond Abduction and Murder Case

Newport News, VA – Five members of the Black P. Stone Nation gang have pled guilty to federal charges related to the abduction and murder of a woman, who was taken from her Richmond home and executed in York County.

Court documents outline a grim series of events from the early hours of May 6, 2023. Hezekiah Carney, 25, from Norfolk, along with Jamica Langley, 25, of Richmond, Donnisha Goodman, 27, from Portsmouth, and Acacia Jackson, 19, from New York, initially visited the victim’s apartment on Bethel Street in Richmond to punish her for a gang violation. The group violently beat the woman before leaving her apartment.

Just an hour later, Carney, Langley, Goodman, and Jackson returned—this time joined by Jayquan Jones, 21, of Richmond. Armed and masked, the group once again attacked the victim and then forced her into a Hyundai Sonata. They drove about an hour east to a remote spot off Old Williamsburg Road in York County, where they executed her, firing eight shots at her head, abdomen, back, and legs.

The next morning, deputies from the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office discovered her body along with shell casings stamped “S&B.” By May 7, Norfolk police had tracked down the Sonata with Jackson, Goodman, and Langley inside. A matching 9mm cartridge found in the car linked the group to the murder scene.

Carney, Goodman, and Jones have pled guilty to using a firearm in a death, with sentences ranging from 35 to 45 years. Carney and Jones will be sentenced in January 2025, while Goodman’s sentencing is scheduled for January 7, 2025.

Jackson and Langley have pled guilty to conspiracy to commit kidnapping. Both could face life in prison, with sentencing dates set for October 31 and November 7, respectively.

This brutal case serves as another stark reminder of the gang-related violence continuing to plague Virginia communities. The guilty pleas bring some closure, but the upcoming sentencing hearings will determine the long-term consequences for these violent actions.
