A Norfolk neighborhood was rocked Monday after a deadly shooting led to a statewide Amber Alert and an overnight manhunt that ended in Virginia Beach.
Police say 28-year-old Alexus L. Foreman was found shot and killed around 11:35 a.m. on June 16 in the 900 block of E Liberty Street. Officers responding to the scene found her with life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead shortly after.
During the investigation, detectives discovered that Foreman’s 4-year-old son had been taken from the scene. That triggered an Amber Alert, with state police, the FBI, and U.S. Marshals quickly brought in to help.
Hours later, just before 1 a.m. on Tuesday, June 17, police tracked down 27-year-old Tyli N. Scott in the 3900 block of Huntley Way in Virginia Beach. The missing child was found safe inside the home where Scott was arrested.
Scott is now facing charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm. He’s being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
The child has been returned to the care of a guardian.
