HAMPTON, Va. — Hampton police are trying to piece together what led to a stabbing early Monday morning, but right now, they’re working with very little.
Officers were called just after midnight on April 6 to the first block of West Mercury Boulevard. When they arrived, they found an adult man with a cut that, while serious enough to require treatment, was not considered life-threatening.
Fire and rescue crews stepped in quickly and took the man to a nearby hospital.
What’s missing is the story behind the injury.
Police say the victim has not provided details about what happened or who may have been involved. That leaves investigators without a suspect description or a clear timeline of events—something that can slow down a case in its early hours.
The stretch of West Mercury Boulevard where this happened is a busy corridor during the day, lined with businesses and steady traffic. But after midnight, it quiets down, which can make incidents like this harder to piece together without witnesses.
For now, detectives are asking the public to help fill in the gaps.
Anyone who saw something or knows anything about what happened is encouraged to contact the Hampton Police Division at 757-727-6111.
As of now, the investigation remains open, with more questions than answers.
