In a two-day operation across Hampton Roads, the Virginia Beach Police Department arrested four people and identified six potential victims of human trafficking, marking another step in the region’s fight against exploitation.
On June 20 and 21, officers from VBPD’s Special Investigations Bureau, working with the Hampton Roads Human Trafficking Task Force, zeroed in on suspects involved in sex trafficking and prostitution. The task force, a joint effort between local and federal agencies, has been active in disrupting trafficking rings operating in and around coastal Virginia.
Here’s who was arrested:
-
Larry Fulgham, 39, of Suffolk: Facing multiple charges including pandering, drug possession, and promoting prostitution.
-
Tammy Brown, 24, of South Carolina: Charged with prostitution.
-
Labrint Brown, 37, of Norfolk: Charged with firearm possession as a felon, aiding prostitution, and sex trafficking.
-
Marissa Pressley, 24, of Norfolk: Facing similar charges, including sex trafficking and using a vehicle to promote prostitution.
Six victims were identified during the operation and immediately connected with Samaritan House, a local nonprofit that supports survivors of trafficking and domestic violence.
What’s more troubling is that investigators uncovered out-of-state connections—hinting at a larger, multi-jurisdictional trafficking network. Federal agencies are now stepping in to follow up on leads that go beyond Hampton Roads.
The Human Trafficking Task Force says more investigations are underway and stresses that these operations are as much about rescuing victims as they are about holding traffickers accountable.
