The Hampton Police Division is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on March 31, 2025.
At approximately 7:50 p.m., Public Safety Communications received a call for a pedestrian accident that had just occurred in the 200 block of West Mercury Boulevard. Hampton Police and Hampton Fire and Rescue units arrived and located an adult male laying in the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounce deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the westbound lanes of West Mercury Boulevard when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and is cooperating with the investigation. There was no designated crosswalk at the location he attempted to cross. The decedents name is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
The crash remains under investigation by members of the Hampton Police Division’s Reconstruction Team.
