The Hampton Police Division is investigating a fatal pedestrian accident that occurred on May 18, 2025.
At approximately 10:49 p.m., Public Safety Communications received a call for a pedestrian accident that had just occurred in the 1000 block of West Mercury Boulevard. Hampton Police and Hampton Fire and Rescue units arrived and located an adult male laying in the roadway. The pedestrian was pronounce deceased at the scene.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that the pedestrian was attempting to cross the eastbound lanes of West Mercury Boulevard at the intersection of North Armistead Avenue when he was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene after striking the victim. There is a designated crosswalk at the location he attempted to cross. The decedents name is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.
The crash remains under investigation by members of the Hampton Police Division’s Reconstruction Team.
