A Norfolk man who led police on a dangerous chase through a residential neighborhood last fall has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to two felony charges.
Justice Raliek Green, 26, was arrested on October 7, 2024, after police caught him behind the wheel of a stolen car and say he tried to flee. Just hours earlier, a woman had reported the car stolen from outside her home on Leicester Avenue.
Police spotted the vehicle that evening near Falkland and Bonnot drives. When they tried to pull it over, Green sped off—hitting over 60 mph in a neighborhood where the speed limit is 25. According to officers, he left the roadway multiple times, drove across sidewalks and a field, and eventually ditched the car in a driveway before trying to hide in the bushes. Officers found and arrested him shortly after.
In May, Green agreed to plead guilty to felony unauthorized use of a vehicle and felony eluding. As part of the deal, prosecutors reduced a more serious charge—grand larceny of an automobile—to a lesser felony.
Judge Jennifer L. Fuschetti accepted the plea and, on October 10, sentenced Green to two years behind bars with an additional five years suspended. That means Green will have to stay out of trouble for five years after his release or risk returning to prison.
At sentencing, prosecutors asked for the full 2.5-year sentence allowed under the agreement, while Green’s lawyer pushed for time served. The judge landed in the middle.
Norfolk Commonwealth’s Attorney Ramin Fatehi praised the work of the officers involved.
“The shorter the time from crime to arrest, the stronger the evidence of guilt tends to be,” said Fatehi. “In this case, that enabled the victim to get her car back sooner and us to secure accountability against Mr. Green.”
