NORFOLK, Va. (NPD) – Norfolk Police are continuing to investigate a single-car crash that left a man dead.
Around 5:50 p.m., on November 22nd, first responders were called to the 1400 block of E Indian River Road for the report of a car hitting a building.
When officers arrived, they found a car had left the roadway, hit an apartment building in the 1100 block of Wilson Road, and overturned.
The driver, later identified as Hammad A. Salaam, 71, of Norfolk, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The preliminary investigation has determined the man suffered a medical emergency prior to the crash.
There were no other injuries reported during this incident.
The crash investigation is being handled by the Norfolk Police Department’s Traffic Fatality Team.
