The Virginia Beach Police Department is asking the public to speak up if they’ve had any encounters with a man now facing multiple indecent exposure charges.
Throughout August, police received several calls about a man exposing himself at shopping centers in the Great Neck and Hilltop areas. Officers with the department’s Second Precinct Crime Suppression Squad stepped in to investigate.
That investigation led them to Robert Mason, a 70-year-old Virginia Beach resident. Mason was arrested on September 13 and charged with:
-
4 counts of Indecent Exposure
-
4 counts of Public Masturbation
-
1 count of Illegally Parking in a Handicap Spot
According to VBPD, Mason is known to frequent several commercial areas:
-
London Bridge Plaza (2356 Virginia Beach Blvd.)
-
Great Neck Shopping Center (2110 Great Neck Sq.)
-
Market Square Shopping Center (2844 Virginia Beach Blvd.)
Police say there may be more people who were affected but haven’t come forward yet. If you believe you saw or experienced something connected to this case—or have more information—reach out to the Second Precinct Crime Suppression Squad at 757-385-2700.
