A 22-year-old Norfolk man is dead after a late-night shooting on Picadilly Street, and detectives say the investigation is still very much active.
Police were called to the 1200 block of Picadilly Street around 11:20 p.m. on February 12 for a report of a gunshot victim. When officers arrived, they found a man inside a vehicle suffering from what authorities described as a life-threatening gunshot wound.
That man has now been identified as Anthony J. Castro, 22, of Norfolk. He was taken to the hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries.
So far, detectives have not released details about what led up to the shooting, whether there are any suspects, or what may have sparked the violence.
The 1200 block of Picadilly Street sits in a residential stretch of the city — a place where neighbors are used to parked cars lining the street and families turning in for the night. Now, it’s part of a homicide investigation.
Police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through the Norfolk Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
As of now, that’s all investigators are saying publicly. We’ll continue following this story as more details become available.
