A Virginia Beach family is grieving after a 17-year-old girl was killed in a car crash just after midnight on Saturday.
Police say they got the call at 12:10 a.m. on February 3 about a single-vehicle crash in the 3200 block of Head River Road. When officers and medics got there, they found a teenage passenger—identified only as a 17-year-old girl from Virginia Beach—dead at the scene.
Another passenger survived and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to Virginia Beach Police.
Early findings suggest the car was heading west on Head River Road when it lost control, veered off the road, and slammed into a tree.
Police are still trying to figure out exactly what led to the crash. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the VBPD Traffic Safety Unit at (757) 385-4606.
